Pattern for Tunisian fingerless gloves
Here is my free pattern for Tunisian Fingerless gloves....by me!! Itreycee a.k.a the
"Yarnbender" :)
Hook: K hook ( I used a Tunisian hook but you can substitute a regular crochet hook and
put a rubber band on the end to keep your stitches from falling off.)
Yarn: I used 100% cotton "Peaches and Cream" as well as "Red Heart" super saver solid
worsted yarn. I am sure you could adapt it to any yarn.
Special stitches: slip stitch, Tunisian increase stitch, whip stitch. This pattern assumes
you know how to cast on with Tunisian crochet and are familiar with basic afghan stitch.
With K hook Chain 20 stitches (I like my cuff tight so this can be adjusted)
Afghan stitch in backside bumps till end of row (front pass)...20sts
Afghan stitch in 1st chain, then through 2 sts to end (return pass)...20 sts ending with
one sts on the hook.
Repeat even in afghan stitch for 5 rows or until the length is long enough to go from
your wrist to where your thumb begins on your hand.
Increase row:
Afghan stitch in 2sts (this counts the one left on your hook from your last return pass) st,
then do an increase stitch. Continue to stitch evenly till last 3 stitches. Increase once,
then do your last 2 stitches as normal afghan stitch. (front pass)...22 sts.
Work return pass with 22 sts.
Work even
Work increase row...24 stitches
Work increase row...26 stitches
Work even for 26 stitches
Work increase row 28 stitches
work Increase row....30 stitches
Work even row of 30 afghan stitches....
Thumb gusset
slip stitch (Tunisian way) in 1st 3 (or 4) stitches, then work even across in afghan stitch
until the last 3 stitches, leaving them unworked. Do your repeat pass as normal. 22
loops on hook.
repeat 22 evenly worked afghan stitch rows for 5 or more times depending on how much
you want to cover the knuckles of the fingers. Mine was 5 rows. Bind off leaving a
loooooooooong tail.
Turn your flat glove inside out making sure both thumb sides meet. Now take your long
tail and whip stitch sides together but do not stitch the hole the thumb actually comes
out. Then stitch down the sides to the wrist. Bind off and weave in ends.
